Web Technology Coordinator

This position provides technical and organizational support in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the university’s portal environment (Luminis Portal), content management system (RedDot CMS), and associated applications. As a Web Technology Coordinator, the successful candidate will work closely with faculty, staff, students, Public Relations, Information Technology (IT), project teams and managers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure the myLongwood web portal (Luminis Portal) is a valuable resource for the campus community,
implementing and maintaining portal features and functions while focusing on internal marketing efforts, usability, content quality and value.

Help coordinate the implementation of the content management system (RedDot CMS) project including system development and conversion of current web content.

Interact and collaborate with stakeholders for successful development and maintenance of both systems – Luminis Portal and RedDot CMS.

Develop processes for development and maintenance of both systems as needed and ensure project information is communicated effectively to the campus community.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work well with people, highly self-motivated and self disciplined, flexible. Strong organizational/project management skills.

A strong technical aptitude with working knowledge of HTML, XHTML, RSS, CSS/CSS2, and Microsoft Windows; RedDot and/or Luminis systems experience, as well as knowledge of XML, XSLT, and ASP technologies strongly desired.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience preferred; experience in the development, support and/or administration of web-based applications, such as portals or web content management systems; project management experience desired.

Skills in Java, Unix/Linux, Oracle, and .Net preferred.

Pay Band 4; Commonwealth of Virginia benefits accompany this position. Successful criminal background check is required.
