The Office of Information Technology is seeking candidates for this full-time, 12-month, professional position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The purpose of this position is to assist the Communications & Creative Services group within the Office of Information Technology (OIT) in maintaining OIT’s website, including: gathering and editing content, developing information architecture, providing OIT staff with advice and counsel on communications planning specifically as it relates to their websites and other media projects, and developing systems for ongoing maintenance and content management.

The individual will be responsible for: daily maintenance and updates, incorporating forms, templates and user-friendly interfaces for database-driven information.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, media, computer technology or related field and 2 to 4 years of related professional experience.

Preferred: The applicant will demonstrate excellent skills in:
- the use of web development and graphics tools including Adobe Dreamweaver, Flash, Contribute, Photoshop and Illustrator;
- the use of XHTML and CSS in Web development;
- applying accessibility, readability, and usability methodologies;
- identifying significant information and synthesizing disparate pieces of information into coherent and innovative websites;
- working as a team and listening closely to client concerns;
- accepting and implementing feedback; and
- completing detail oriented tasks within timelines.

The applicant will have experience with:
- a variety of web technologies including cgi scripts, forms, tables, password protection, counters;
- developing documentation and templates for use by others;
- writing, proofreading and editing
- finding innovative and cost effective solutions for web needs;
- web writing standards as compared to print writing standards; and
- design for electronic media.

The applicant will have knowledge of:
- scripting languages such as PHP and Javascript; and
- the use of databases (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL) on web sites.

Project and time management skills are also crucial, as many of the projects must be done on short time lines or in emergency situations. The incumbent is expected to have excellent interpersonal skills, possess good verbal and written communication skills, work well in a team environment, and be able to work with minimal supervision.
