We combine world-leading innovation in science and technology, fast-expanding interactive television and radio services - and one of the internet's favourite websites.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The BBC information architecture team is part of a wider user experience design team, using a user-centred design methodology and applying it to information architecture problems. The IAs are focused on the structural design of the websites (and other services such as mobile phones and interactive TV applications). They specialise in findability projects and designing data-driven functionality. Typical projects involve designing navigation, search functionality, search engine optimisation, metadata &amp; tagging applications, content management systems and any database-driven websites.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;MAIN DUTIES&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To champion findability; developing global, local, contextual, supplementary and social navigation systems; structuring sites and content to be search-friendly and to expose the relationships between the content&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To create information architecture deliverables for data-driven applications, including annotated wireframes and business rules specifications&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To develop metadata schema, vocabularies, and tagging tools&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To create information architecture deliverables for content management systems, including content inventories/ audits and content object models, supporting a strategy of structured reusable content&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To design search interfaces and results displays, configuring ranking and organisation of results&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To act as a diplomat and evangelist for the IA discipline within the user experience design team and throughout the organisation&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To produce designs based on user research, business context and a detailed understanding of BBC content&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To understand usability and accessibility issues and integrate these into the overall design concept&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To create design briefs throughout the project, in consultation with stakeholders and project leads. Then leading the process of developing information architecture ideas, to ensure that all IA work answers the brief.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To supervise a small team on a day-to-day basis (e.g. allocation of work assignments, guidance in the work, performance, training and developing, and acting as mentor to new staff)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To keep abreast of industry developments and take the lead in incorporating and promoting these&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To be aware of personal financial authority limits and to ensure that this authority is exercised in accordance with BBC financial arrangements&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To work to the BBC's policy on Health and Safety&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Significant experience as an information architect, across a range of projects and platforms&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In-depth knowledge of navigation design, metadata, content management and search systems;
